WHEN JESUS CHRIST SENT MESSAGES TO SEVEN FIRST-CENTURY CHURCHES, they were timely and accurate. But two thousand years later, in the twenty-first century, those messages can help us and our churches as well.

Their primary meaning can have personal application for our life. But those seven letters also have an uncanny prophetic significance. Viewed in hindsight, the seven letters seem to chart the historical unfolding of the Christian Church from then until now.

Christ dictated those seven letters personally to the apostle John, an exile on the island of Patmos. He wrote down everything he was shown: his vision of Christ on Patmos (Revelation 1), the content of the seven letters (Revelation 2-3), and what would happen on earth during the Tribulation and after (Revelation 4-22). This study guide, The Seven Churches of Revelation, focuses primarily on Christ's commendations and criticisms of the seven churches in Asia Minor.

Dr. David Jeremiah unpacks the meaning of the seven letters at all three interpretive levels: primary, personal, and prophetic. Understanding Christ's view of ancient churches can help our modern churches be more faithful. And help us see that we are nearing the end of this age and Christ's Second Coming to earth.

Dr. David Jeremiah is the senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California. His popular radio and television program, Turning Point, reaches millions of people each day, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Jeremiah has written many books including When Your World Falls Apart, What in the World Is Going On?, The Book of Signs, Where Do We Go From Here?, and The World of the End.
